An undergraduate degree is your first degree at university and may include Honours.
Apply for an undergraduate degree
There are a number of ways to you can gain entry into an undergraduate degree whether you’re still at high school, or a non-school leaver:
- Year 12 qualifications
- Foundation studies
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
- TAFE/VET qualifications
- higher education transfers.
Admission to all courses is limited by quota and is normally based on academic merit as determined by assessment of an applicant’s qualifications.
If you have completed SACE, the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is normally used.
Additional entry requirements for some courses
In some courses other criteria, such as subject pre-requisites, an interview, audition or portfolio submission also apply. For information on such course requirements, see course information in the SATAC Guide and course information pages.
All applications for undergraduate courses are submitted through the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).
If you’re still at high school, your school career counsellor can help you with your application and they’ll have the latest SATAC University Guide.
International students currently studying Year 12 in Australia can apply via SATAC but will need to select the International Year 12 option. If you are an international student studying overseas, please see our international students website for entry requirements and application information.
There are two admissions cycles for undergraduate degrees:
- February intake (semester 1): applications open in August for commencement the following year. All courses are open for applications.
- Midyear intake (semester 2): applications open in August for commencement in July the following year. Not all courses are offered.

You can defer your offer for one year in nearly all undergraduate courses.

Soon after accepting your offer you will receive an enrolment brochure which will outline everything you need to know about enrolling for your studies.
Go to Enrolling @ Flinders for more information. At this site, you will also find relevant information on cross-institutional enrolment.
